How the Klan Fueled Prohibition



The 1920s weren’t just gin joints and jazz. Anti-immigrant racism was all the rage. On Jan. 16, 1919, Nebraska became the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment to the Constitution, which banned the manufacture, sale, import or transportation of intoxicating liquors.
